Today was nice, with its ups and downs. In the morning I dropped off Siqi and Oakland Airport just before traffic started getting bad. I finished reading Jimmy Corrigan the Smartest Kid in the World, and then I cried for a while. At night, Rick and I Barted over to the Mission and on to "History and Mystery of the Universe" at Project Artaud Theater. Ron Campell is amazing. Go see it! It is a very optimistic piece about a brilliant man.
"Love ... is omni-inclusive, progressively exquisite, understanding and tender and compassionately attuned to other than self."
"If success or failure of this planet and of human beings depended on how I am and what I do, how would I be? What would I do?"
"I'm not trying to counsel any of you to do anything really special except to dare to think, and to dare to go with the truth, and to dare to really love completely."
-- R. Buckminster Fuller (in the crazy accent)
"I don't think I'm a good dancer, but my body always wants to talk." (Allegra)
"We are all pattern integrities." (We are made of this stuff, but it is not us).
Coexisting opposites: tension/compression, concave/convex ... what was the third?
You can either make money or make sense.
To think, to believe is of society; to feel is what makes an individual.
While a vehicle on land alters the earth on which it treads, a boat never changes the form of the water.
Afterwards, we found out that Rick doesn't need to worry about losing me to a cowboy. Then there was the Cremaster of Disaster. You might find out what that is ... if you dare. Sleepy time. Good night!
