Yay for Nietzsche! Foreshadow it did! "One must know how to conserve oneself: the hardest test of independence." It's about how you gotta develop yourself outside of the molds available: the nation, altruism + heroics, science, pretension, virtue, wealth, the person you wish would admire you. I am shaping my own particular existentialist-leaning view on life based on the idea that to be truly original, you can't lie to yourself. I.e. You are right, dear friends--I realized I am in a plane of my own, and I oughta like it. Siqi said this: "When you are smart, you have to deal with people who are not as intelligent as you are all the time. It's just something you have to get used to." Although there are many who are much more aware, not everyone can perceive as acutely...the only troublesome thing is that heightened awareness requires a much steelier and robust will to be able to withstand the pain that comes with intense consciousness.
But oohh ... how intense it is. Fun! Call me elitist, but I think once you get to a certain level of understanding--what a power trip! (Not that I've been there, but that's how I would imagine it).
Ode to a Soldering Iron
Harnessed to a blazing tip--aglow with freshest flux--
Melds wires deux scraped anew--cleansed of orish muck--
Betwixt three rods entertains a joint--an unleadened simmer brews--
Will hold the strength of ten thousand men--and of the greatest glues.
