future landscapes

i'm trying to build a collection of future urban landscapes: ephemera, space age fantasies, situationists and metamorphs, dystopic and krazy kat, astro boy metropolis style futures. (oh boy, this is going to be a big collection). recommendations?

(i decided to bump this from Oct 5 2005 for updates!)

just off the top of me noggin:

lebbeus woods, dan weil's fifth element sets, archigram's "walking city," niemeyer's fucking brasilia, that porn city in the beginning of the movie "a.i.", chris cunningham music videos?

and ohh shit, q-bert's "wavetwisters," the architecture of j. mayer, servo, r&sie and all those nutsos, miyazaki cartoons, the lexus car and highways in minority report, and the cd cover of radiohead's "kid a"!!!

i second bruce's suggestions! you've already thought of "blade runner", right??

shit! i'll come up with more..

sweet! yes, bladerunner is very much on the top of list under "American cinema postmodern dystopia." very lovely. thanks andrea!!!

i would also dare to include some of rem koolhaas's early collages, and not to mention some of the architecturally related films at resfest (but not many of them were about futures ... more nostalgie/present --seems right now, future is not fashionable)!

man, i wish i could get my internal library outfitted with a faster information retrieval system. i have some images floating about, but i can't recall the names and dates!

i love the graphical drawings bernard tshumi did (the black and white cubes squares... like a mystery/ killer scene)

mein GOTT!!!

upon seeing these pictures, it strikes me that there is a resemblance between future-scapes and underwater-scapes and deep sea life.

giant squids, anyone??

forget hovercars, let's ride giant squids to work.

to add to the list: final fantasy designer yoshitaka amano (thanks bruce aka "human repository"), manga author kasuhiro otomo (of "akira" fame), french graphic artist moebius ...

Dutch painter Constant Nieuwenhuys ("New Babylon"), Italian architects Superstudio and Archizoom, Leon Krier (did we already mention him?). Yona Friedman. Guy Debord & the Situationists ("The Society of Spectacle").

MVRDV

... what about landscape architects?
