makes me think of "laputa: castle in the sky." i only saw it once, when i was eight or nine, and i still can't get it out of my head.

oh shit. my parents are crazy about that movie. it's on my shelf, but i haven't seen it.
..but i did see "dr. strangelove" today! there was mention of a "laputa"..
"a movie where the protagonist was a factory" makes me think of scenes from "harold & maude" and "gozu".
