paul seawright is another favorite photographer / journalist of mine who captures a kind of beautiful desolation in his travels through places where people live or abandoned in africa, the middle east, europe ... pretty much every where in the world.

nice that the same guy who photographs sand, dunes and fog has some photographs of painted walls, too. red doesn't often conjure desolation.
