Sunday, Sacramento ag-related protest. It was nice to see the limo driver, service people, and guests of the Sheraton wondering what the hell were hordes of gangling drum-beating butterflies, old ladies dressed as bees and vegetables, stinking anarchists, and giant corn-shaped protest signs were meant to represent. Rick, in his Anti-flag T and tight polyester pants, Dan, laden with a large camcorder, and Becca, waving a little yellow Direct Action banner, were among the hordes. Unfortunately, Dan didn't get good violent footage for his documentary, and I sense he was sorely disappointed. It was a blazing but relatively cool Valley day, but marching in circles and random rotations in an urban heat island was steamy ... esp Rick in his hot pants. Hehehe. I wonder what kind of effect this had on officials and the public. (Later, we saw a no more than 3 minute, maybe 2 minute, blurb about the protest on KRON 4; sad). Afterwards, Dan and Rick ate buffet with my family, and Jonathan spewed out the details of an entire episode of the Simpsons (Body-Building Marge). I fell asleep watching Monty Python back in Berkeley, but got prodded up to go home. What a day.
