What's new? I just watched the first three parts of a film called "La Ciudad" by David Riker in ED 100. It's a series of vignettes, about 15-20 minutes long each, about individual immigrants in NYC. (Bruce and Sara know what I'm talking about). Very poignant, and I usually don't think movies, even when they really try, are poignant. It's made me depressed, and I think I'll be sad for a while. For some reason, these films always effect me more than real life does. I don't know why. It's totally un-sensational, but plays up the tragedy. It's like any movie that's made to elicit sentiments, but what makes it so convincing is that it seems more "true," because it's coming from the lens of a grad student, and when you watch it, you don't sense much pretense, and it doesn't overly aestheticize the subject. Sigh.
I'm going to heat up my dumplings now! And then, go work out.
PS It's suddenly hit me--I'm graduating, and I'm scared!
