manybooks.net

when different websites offer the same services, i'm usually more drawn towards the ones with the better-looking graphic interfaces. yes, it comes down to aesthetics! (and that includes the aesthetic of the content, of course).

as for free books in .pdf format, i've always liked manybooks.net! the site is simple, and each book has its fabulous old-school cover image next to its description. among their most popular downloads:

>Sex and Common Sense, by A. Maude Royden (1921)

>Fifteen Thousand Useful Phrases, by Grenville Kleiser (1910) -- amazingly useful for sounding like you mean business!

>Japanese Fairy Tales, by Yei Theodora Ozaki (1908)

>The Kama Sutra of Vatsayayana, translated by Sir Richard Francis Burton (1898) -- the most downloaded book.

you can also find classics like James Joyce's Ulysses and you might enjoy browsing a collection of very strange sci-fi and noir.
